This looks really good. Obviously, it's been 50 years -- but the story behind Apollo 11 never gets old to me.

Steve Bates is a steely-eyed missileman. TWENTY SIX! I can't even fathom having the cojones to give "go/no go" with that kind of pressure. I was doing radio news at 26.

My dad would have been one of older guys in Mission Control at 29 in 1964 when he was transferred to Houston to manage a team of 150 for post-flight data reduction on Gemini. A far cry from designing suspensions for Pontiac Motor just six years before.

One minor quibble about the article, and others that misname the Manned Spacecraft Center during Apollo: It wasn't named after Lyndon B. Johnson until 1973. LBJ was still President during Apollo 8. Nixon didn't take office until January of 1969.

Only 24 human beings have seen the full circle of our Earth from space.

We have not added to that list in a long time. It’s also a list of white men.

I have never seen equity presented as a reason to increase space program funding.
    I'm all for it.

A British Airways 747 rode a supercharged jet stream across the Atlantic to set the record for fastest subsonic Trans-Atlantic crossing.
The plane was traveling 801 mph and got from New York to London in 4 hours, 56 minutes.

    Subsonic? Isn't 801mph supersonic?

Edit: it's addressed in the article.
