    I remember the first Yankee game I saw after Munson's death, the catcher was a guy named Brad (?) Gulden. Was it him?

    No. Yaz was at first for a year or two before Rice. And correct pitchers don't count. And here is a big hint - the player who was replaced didn't retire.
