Army of the dead breaks through the north, down the neck, whacking and raising people as they go.

Hot Pie gives us a convenient, "Look - here's a normal Westerosi who's now a faithful servant of the night king" narrative device.

The second Hot Pie said he was a survivor in Season 7, I was like, "Welp, that fucker's gonna die now."

    That fits.

They spent the entirety of Season 7 interjecting, "as long as the wall stands!" and "the wall has stood for a thousand years!" and "har har the wall is yours; don't tear it down while I'm gone" and "yeah but he can't get past the wall - we're all sure of that!" into dialogue.

Maybe that's who Arya is running from in the trailer for this season. :)

True, and we should certainly expect the worst. I just wonder if minor characters like Hot Pie or even Podrick can possibly slip through the cracks and survive.

I had almost forgotten Daario. What if he shows up with the Golden Company, marching for Cersei against Dany?

Add a dead Edd for me. I just can't see him making it.

    Excellent work, Justin.

Maybe we can have a tiebreaker: In which episode does the Night King fall?

    That's a good tiebreaker.

Also: Who sits on the Iron Throne at the end, and Do we get CleganeBowl?

My tiebreakers: NK dies in episode 4. Iron Throne is Dany. CleganeBowl, yes, with the Hound winning (but he'll be so badly injured that Arya will mercy kill him in a reversal of earlier in the series when she left him to die).
