I thought they were military dog tags. But I have no idea why.

    Sea Bass,

    Glad you asked.

I posted that on the anniversary of the last remaining combat troops being pulled out of Vietnam in 1973.

(There were some remaining Embassy protection Marines leaving later in April 1975.)

The photo is of 58,307 dog tags hanging from the ceiling, each stamped with an individual name of US lives lost during the war. This is at the National Veterans Art Museum in Chicago.

    "Above and Beyond"

Plus there is one black dog tag representing MIA.

    Very moving display.

Many thanks for asking. I posted it without explanation at first to leave people pondering so that I could explain later. Thanks for following up.

It reemphasizes the sadness of war.

    Regards,
    VB

These are pictures from the National Memorial for Peace and Justice in Montgomery, Al. It commemorates victims of racist lynchings in America. The 800 rectangular steel pieces hanging from the ceiling each represent a county where lynchings happened, and list the names and dates of the victims. Each one has a duplicate outside the memorial, intended to go to the various counties for display there. This was done as a way to measure the degree to which each county has come to deal with its racist past.

Similar design to the above brought it to mind.

The homeowners heard strange noises. That's the biggest honey comb I've ever seen.
