There's a reason Motley Crue's Behind the Music was the top-rated installment of that show. They're pretty interesting. I don't think it's forced. I think they're genuinely crazy, self-destructive idiots who made wildly popular music.

Fleetwood Mac...I don't know. I definitely like their music more than Crue, but what's so interesting about FM? Other than they were all banging each other and Stevie Nicks did so much blow that she burned through her septum? That's not enough source material for a good biopic.

The thing about Motley Crue is, the people who love them LOVE THEM. They are my brother's favourite band. Have been since he was a kid. Still are. He saw them dozens of times. For some reason, they clicked really well with something in his brain. There are a lot of people like him. Which is kind of a scary thought, knowing my brother, but anyway.

I hung out with Vince Neil a couple of years ago, watching football. It was very weird to see him in a Miami Dolphins jersey, shorts, and a pair of hot new white NB sneakers. I was like, Shouldn't you be wearing a boa?

The Behind the Music made portrayed it as Vince Neil got off easy because he could make money to pay the family if he stayed out of jail. That angle wasn't mentioned in the movie.

Was it for a profile or something? Or a genuinely social situation? Was he drinking? I know he's gone back and forth with that. Interested to know what he was like.

I was working, but it was a social situation while I was on assignment, if that makes sense. There were maybe six of us at a Las Vegas casino watching football in a sports book. He was drinking champagne, bottle of it on ice on the table. He was super nice, to be honest. Very chill (it was the middle of the day, at a locals casino) and generous. He bought everything for everybody. He cared very much about the Dolphins who lost that day, if I remember correctly. It really was weird to see him in civilian clothes. I kept thinking how my brother would shit when I told him I spent the day watching football with Vince Neil.

One of the weird parts... He was there with his girlfriend, a woman named Rainbow. She looked exactly how you might imagine. But I was sitting next to a friend of Vince's—a chef, I think, a regular person—who got kind of sad talking about Vince's attempts to be normal. I guess he really wanted to have a real relationship with Rainbow, and wanted to be faithful, but he had been faithful, but it was hard for him to adjust to life (and sex) with one woman all the time. A constant battle. The friend told a story—I have no idea if it was true or if it's in the book or the movie—that Vince had once played "sex golf," which was sex with 18 woman in the same room at the same time. Well, it's hard to find a partner who is okay with that having been something that you've done, and it's hard for you not to do things like that anymore when you have and probably still can. At some point your history kind of becomes who you are. It was a strangely fascinating thing to think about.

He also bought a private plane that day. On his phone. While we were sitting there. I don't know, man. Like you said, he's lived some kind of life. The ends of his experience spectrum extend way beyond anything we could imagine.

Saw "Captain Marvel" this afternoon and really enjoyed it. I'm not a big superhero movie fan but I liked the female perspective and the idea that what we are told is true may not be. Fun show (and the theatre had recliner seats like La-Z-Boys!). :)

Sex golf...that’s just Caligula-level depraved. Hell, I don’t even like strip clubs.

I once tried to do 18 holes of drinking — one each at 18 bars/restaurants — in college. I barely completed the front 9.

I’m not sure I can ever see a movie without the recliners again. Simply genius.

One place we went to also had blankets and pillows.

And the theaters I go to also offer booze to go with the recliner and the swiveling arm table. I deserve to be pampered like that godammit!

Finally watched Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse. It lives up to the hype. The voice cast is excellent and the visuals are creative and engaging. It incorporates much of the spirit of the character, though this isn't exactly the Miles Morales of the comics.
