Alfredo Griffin's had some Forrest Gump-type moments in MLB.

He was in the starting lineup for three losing teams in perfect games: Toronto (Len Barker, 1981); Dodgers (Tom Browning, 1988) and Dodgers (Dennis Martinez, 1991).

On deck for the only come-from-behind walkoff homer in World Series history.

He is also the only player in NL history to qualify for the batting title (502 PAs) and finish last in batting average, on-base percentage, and slugging average, in 1990.

    Ouch.

For a guy with a .604 career OPS, questionable base-running skills (192 steals, 134 CS) and below average range (even in the one season he won a Gold Glove, he had less than league average range), he still eked out an 18-year career and won three World Series titles. Pretty amazing.

This player was in uniform for the final game at Ebbetts Field, the NYG final game at the Polo Grounds, for the Washington Senators' final game at Griffith Stadium and for the Senators' first game at DC Stadium.

In his last game, Thurman Munson was pulled before the third inning and replaced defensively. Who replaced him?

Just realized I never answered this. It's Benny Daniels, a pitcher for the Pirates in 1957, and for the expansion Senators in 1961 and 1962. He started and lost to Danny McDivitt in the last game at Ebbets Field. Bob Friend won the final Giants' game at the Polo Grounds.

Bob Friend also won the first game ever played at Shea Stadium.
