While it could - should? - be said that no school should be allowed to act this self-important, Bradley?

    Bradley?

Good freaking grief. Almost as self-delusional as the NCAA. Almost.

You see this all the time at mid-majors:

    1. They beg for major program coverage.
    2. They have success and get major program coverage, which includes criticism.
    3. They freak out over being criticized because it's never happened before.

Correct. Have zero understanding of the difference between criticism and unfair. They automatically assume all criticism is unfair and go from there.

And as soon as that latest coach in the building gets a better offer at a bigger school, he's out the door, and the SID still has to deal with the same media folks covering Bradley. I'm a former mid-major SID, and once our coach left, I never heard a word from him, and I continued to work with the daily paper beat reporter who covered us.

Clearly, Bradley's administration realized these antics won't play in Peoria.

I believe it was Walter O'Malley who said "Never pick a fight with someone who buys ink by the barrel. "

Is "second best college in our zip code" a brand?

This definitely seems like a coach that was testing how important he was in the grand scheme of things and trying to pull a power play because he didn't like a story and held a grudge. An AD and SID worth a shit would have told him it was a terrible idea but they didn't and they took an L for it.

What a bunch of thin-skinned tittybabies. Good for the PJS and Steiner for firing back hard.

Hey, don't scoff at the influence of Bradley basketball! They made the NCAA title game twice -- in the 1950s!
