There's one simple rule for snow. Stay indoors until it's over. Then, barring power outages, you will be safe, warm and dry for cleanup.

If I can battle through the next 4 days, it’ll be back in the 60s on Thursday and maybe then we can start thinking it’s March and spring is right around the corner.

Sleet and flurries this morning. Predicted 75 and tornado-ish on Saturday.

Coldest morning in 5280 in 60-plus years.

And a big-boy avalanche on the main east-west thoroughfare through the state. My parents were supposed to go home today. I told them Thursday if they didn't leave Saturday morning they might not leave until Tuesday.

    Salem witch tour?

There should be plenty of fires burning to keep you warm.

From what I've seen the snow didn't actually make it onto the interstate. Everyone was ok.

Avalanches don't happen much in the Dirrty South, but just going by common sense, if you're in a vehicle you're probably better off than on some off-course ski trail and could be rescued fairly quickly.

Yeah, that, and we'll be hanging around if there is nothing pressing to do.

Kid texts me this morning mad as hell.
4-5 inches of snow in town, cancelled classes at the high schools in town, but not at the college.
    -9.
    -26 with wind chill.
I told him to quit being a pussy and to put a coat on.
He was not thrilled with my response.
