Does anyone have experience/insight on personal weather stations?
You can set one up and feed the data in Weather Underground.
As crazy as our weather is and the changing climate, this looks like it might be a fun hobby.

Tried one of those. Couldn't get it to connect to wifi.

I have two weather stations just in my neighborhood that I bookmark on Weather Underground. They’re literally everywhere.

Oh yeah, find a weather station close by or any one of a dozen good weather apps isn't an issue. Someone has their own I can hit on Weather Underground about a mile from my house. I just think it might be fun to get in the game myself.

Try unplugging it and then plugging it back in.

    Magnificent bastard!

You’re better than the 1-800 tech support.

Whatever you do, don't use your personal weather station on the golf course to measure wind speed. You will get the general penalty for violating Rule 4.3a(2).

Dark Sky weather app is pretty awesome in that it uses GPS to pretty much turn your phone into a personal weather station. I’ve been sitting at an outdoor restaurant and the app alerted me, “heavy rains in your location in 3 minutes,” and I’ve said to my gf, “ok, let’s go inside,” and sure as shit the place got nailed with a fast-passing monsoon, while we were dry inside. I’ve sworn by it ever since.

Saw the thread title and immediately thought of my busted-up hands, which ache in certain climatic conditions. Boy, did I misread that.
