If anyone has any questions about this, feel free to send me a message. Plus you can comment, too.

The Sioux City Journal, an award-winning daily in Sioux City, Iowa, is looking for a versatile and motivated sports writer to contribute to our staff as the assistant sports editor.

The ideal candidate will be a good sports writer and copy editor with a keen eye for grammar and a working knowledge of AP style along with the ability to spot dynamic sports stories in the coverage area. The assistant sports editor will work with the sports editor on game coverage along with splitting page-design shifts.

The assistant editor will cover a wide range of high school and college sports in the Tri-state area and must be experienced with features and breaking news. Because Sioux City hosts the NAIA national women’s basketball tournament, the winning candidate will get an opportunity to report on a national level. Photography skills are a plus.

The assistant will also work with the page-design specialist at one of the Lee Enterprises’ regional design centers on select nights, ensuring deadlines are met.

We are looking for someone who has a great eye for stories, takes good direction and works well with others. We will surround you with supportive, experienced editors who can offer you the guidance, opportunity and freedom to perform at your best.

The Sioux City Journal is an equal opportunity employer with an excellent benefits package that includes medical, dental and vision along with a paid time off policy.

To apply, go to Career Opportunities. Search for positions at the Sioux City Journal. Please provide clips or links to your work.

The link to the Lee jobs site, as well as the McClatchy site, seems to be broken. I only mention McClatchy because the two job sites are powered by the same company.

Are you sure? Because I just clicked on the link above and it took me right to it. I also googled it and it took me right there.

Here's the exact link to the job if that works, too.

About 2 hours from Omaha, about 3 hours to Des Moines and about 4 1/2 hours from the Twin Cities. Sioux Falls is an hour away. Kansas City is about 4 hours away.
