There are teams in Birmingham and Memphis, thus fulfilling both the Southern States requirement and the federal law mandating that every upstart football league have a team in either Birmingham, Memphis, or both.

Poor Memphis had a real NFL team for about 15 minutes while the Oilers/Titans were waiting for Nashville to get ready.

So Bob Stoops is the first coach/GM ... does this make you take the league more seriously at all?

At the Liberty Bowl our mascot took a break under the stands, kicking back in an old Memphis Southmen golf cart.

I was at that Steelers game in Memphis. It was in the lower 40s and started sleeting. Pittsburgh couldn't improve its playoff position or be hurt by it, so Bettis didn't play and Tomczak replaced Kordell Stewart in the second half. It was a complete shitshow on many levels.
