    As still someone who is relatively new to this ... how does home-away work in FA Cup? Is it a bidding process? Seems like a lot of PL teams heading to lower division squads.

    Home/away is luck of the draw.

    Magic of the Cup and all of that sort of thing.

    Blind draw, with the venue switching if the first match ends without a winner. There are some countries (France and/or Germany, IIRC) that don't have replays and mandate the match taking place at the lower-division team's site.
