    How much was Ms. Rainwater getting paid? Given the proliferation of fan sites that
    I think that many of those freelancers would at other jobs that pay more than a preps reporter would make. Did the A's accredit Ms. Rainwater? If so the rewards are a nice, free seat. You can pound out some quick copy without actually going through the drudgery of calling sources, interviewing players, dealing with editors, etc. It would be fun.

    Agreed. She worked at real places—ESPN and Esquire, off the top of my head. Of course she got binned from ESPN for the most hilarious reason ever, but still, she's not just a make-believe journalist.

    Oh some Deadspin writers are darn good writers. Smart, too. That’s what most sad about that site. Decent talent in service of such consistent hatefulness.

    Oh, I know. But the history of Deadspin has seen more than a few unprofessionals on its masthead. "80 percent sure," et al.
