I'm not a soccer guy so I don't usually look at this thread. But I didn't want to let Sigi Schmid's death go by without expressing my condolences.
I knew him and interviewed him several times. He went to high school across the street from our offices and when I covered UCLA we touched base a lot. I remember several lunches in the UCLA Student Union cafeteria.
Although I don't like soccer, I do appreciate enthusiasm and he certainly brought it. In talking to him, you had to be aware of how excited he was to do what he was doing. It's difficult when people you know pass away. This was one for me, especially since he was a year or two younger than me.
RIP, Sigi. I'm glad we crossed paths.

If you're bored this afternoon, Watford-Bournemouth are tied 3-3 before halftime. This match has been insane.

    • Bristol City v Bolton Wanderers
    • Accrington Stanley v Derby County or Southampton
    • Doncaster Rovers v Oldham Athletic
    • Chelsea v Sheffield Wednesday or Luton Town

Watford have lost and drawn against Newcastle in PL play, so I wouldn't mind another shot at them.

I'm glad Arsenal is playing ManU. Get the whales out early so the minnows can swim.

How the fuck did Burnley draw City? Barnet, Gillingham, Accrington Stanley, Newport County out there... Doncaster and Oldham draw each other... and Burnley draw fucking City, and at fucking City. Fuck me.

As a former GK, that was not "a fun watch." It was traumatic and triggered very bad memories.

I shall cover my eyes with some big, padded gloves and endure the nightmares caused by that video.
