In all fairness, she beat the brakes out of Caan.

Here is a big hint about the fighter the actor fought - he does have a connection to Sylvester Stallone (in the last year) - although the two never met.

He does? Not sure we are talking about the same guy but maybe I am missing the Stallone tie here somewhere. Or it happened more than once.

Shoot we've dragged this on to five pages. Stallone, McCain, Harry Reid and others campaigned to have the champ who fought the actor to receive "something" in the last year.

Ah, I wasn't quite getting that connection between Stallone et. al and the champ. Many sources - including an early-80s Ring Record Book i own - have the fight as being for the title but it is now viewed for what it actually was, an exhibition.

Fun fact: Tony "Duke" Evers lost to Apollo Creed in his final fight.

Here's a factoid I was unfamiliar with, brought to my attention while reading Jeff Pearlman's USFL book:

Who was the No. 1 draft pick in the first USFL draft in 1983?

I looked it up. Some interesting #1 picks for the USFL. I also found out the league had a territorial draft.

What's amazing is that two of the four No. 1 picks in the league's four-year history were drafted much lower in the NFL draft that same year and went on to the Hall of Fame.
