Roethlisberger isn't playing that game with retirement. He spoke about it out of frustration after one game last year, but by the end of the season he was saying he wanted to play at least three more years. Also, even now, he is a better quarterback than Alex Smith on his best day. He has had some ugly moments this season, but Roethlisberger isn't the primary culprit.

The Steelers' main problem is their defense, which has been below par for quite a while. The secondary is bad. Joe Haden is the only above-average starter. They still haven't replaced Ryan Shazier at inside linebacker. Keith Butler is a liability as a defensive coordinator, rarely showing any ability to make in-game adjustments.

Also, this is a team that lost its best defensive player to a devastating injury that likely ended his career late last season, then had one of the top 10 or so players in the game hold out all of this season. Throw in a coaching staff that can't seem to establish any discipline and you've got many problems that are worse than Roethlisberger.

Whether he's better than Smith or not, and he is without question, he's still not playing well enough for this team to get back to a Super Bowl. They might have problems worse than Roethlisberger, but every team has flaws and the best quarterbacks are supposed to be good enough to cover for a lot of those flaws. With the exception of a small handful of teams in the league, defenses in general aren't as good as they used to be. And when a team has 12-15% of their cap as the Steelers do invested in one player, especially one that touches the football on every play, he's got to make up for some of those deficiencies.

Last week alone he threw for a shit ton of yards (over 450 I believe) but he also missed a wide-open JuJu on a double move to start the 3rd that would have been a touchdown and of course the horrible interception in the end zone to end the game. That's not a Tomlin issue or a discipline issue. That's him shitting the bed when the game is on the line. Of course you had other issues -- Conner fumbled and the one receiver (#85 I believe) had the ball jarred from him on a hit before he crossed the goal line. That being said Ben had opportunities to overcome those mistakes and he didn't do it.

Roethlisberger also carried the offense that day and many others this season. He is still among the top 10 or 12 quarterbacks in the NFL. You make it sound as if guys like that are easy to find. They clearly are not.

Sanchize time. Amazing to see how the in game betting moved after the Peterson TD. Started at Eagles -1 and I couldn’t place a bet before it moved to -4 in under 30 seconds.

Like the frozen OJ in Trading Places.

I figured. He would have had to suck a WHOLE lot to make them pull him for Sanchez.

Anybody know when and why the NFL decided to change NGs and DTs to "techniques?"

And there’s a certain QB they could sign but won’t.

He’s not a QB. QBs should exhibit leadership, common sense, and not have some lady friend fucking up a possible contract by spewing BS diarrhea.

But if he were to slap a phone out of her hand (and then slap her) in the team hotel ...

Then maybe he could get an endorsement with Verizon?

What’s the status of his lawsuit?

From what I remember, the Ravens were really close to signing him (despite, uh, Baltimore, and Fort McHenry, and that Star-Spangled Banner bit of history...)

And then the gf posted something really stupid, making it abundantly clear that it wasn’t just Kaep, but a twofold PR problem including his gf too.

    Hope she loses his lawsuits.
