Sgt. Ron Healus died after being struck "multiple times by gunfire," Dean said. Healus was a 29-year police veteran who was looking to retire in the next year.

 

It is the 307th mass shooting in the United States this year, according to the Gun Violence Archive.

Well, it has been a few days since they buried the last of the dead from the Tree of Life shooting. I guess it was time for another one.

I'm sure thoughts and prayers are on the way and I've already seen praise for the police response, which is deserved. But we won't see a damn step toward doing anything to fix this.

I'll save the rest for the politics thread. If I sound bitter, to be honest, I'm not past the last one of these yet.
