Absentee and disputed ballots have yet to be counted, and last I heard the margin was under 100 votes. Often they are not even counted if the number of votes involved is less than the margin of victory. It gets down to which ballots are allowed and which are thrown out, and what did the voter intend on ballots which are unclear.

Having one of the candidates involved in that process should not be tolerated.

LOL. "Housing" doesn't mean everyone gets a house. Do you think maybe it could encompass a broader definition?

Stay the course, man. Wheel of Fortune. Wapner at 5. Lights out at 11.

Exactly. I once covered a local election that ended up in court. It was an absolute mess and it ended up being decided by less than 20 votes. I can't imagine how ugly it would have been if one of the candidates was able to pull something like this.

Absolutely agree with that. But mucking with the recount is different from "suppressing" the vote.
Suppression involves an effort to lower turnout, right? And by now all of the votes that are to be counted or recounted should have been cast. Surely absentee ballots need to be postmarked or received by election day, right?
So how is he suppressing the vote when there is no more vote to suppress?

If Fox News were around then, would Nixon have finished his second term?

Throwing out Democratic votes at the slightest pretext, and giving Republican ballots every benefit of a doubt.

Just finished Joshua Zeitz's "Building the Great Society." Tremendous read. It's unbelievable what Johnson accomplished in the areas of civil rights, voting rights, reducing poverty, funding education, consumer and environmental protection, etc.

Even Nixon realized the value of these programs, actually enlarged some of them, and advocated a Family Assistance Plan that would have totally revamped existing welfare programs. He founded the EPA, and gave it the teeth for enforcement. Today the GOP alt-right Nazis would be calling him a socialist, too.

Zeitz's says the current Trump administration is a total clown show and has no one anywhere near as smart as those who worked under Johnson, which gives him hope that Trump won't accomplish a damn thing because he's too stupid.

I hope one of Zeitz's major conclusions is true.

"The Trump administration and its congressional allies may eliminate access to health care for tens of millions of poor people and senior citizens, strip away food security for impoverished children and their parents, erode civil rights for people of color, and make it possible once again to despoil America's water and air. But when the pendulum swings back, it may swing back hard.

"The next burst of liberal reform may not be anywhere near as solicitous of capitalist institutions and private industry, and it may take a more radical approach to securing not just opportunity but equality."

One person I was arguing with asked if I'd be OK with Trump arresting journalists and charging them with treason, as if that's somehow the same thing as Youtube and facebook banning Jones.

Why do conservatives love false equivalences?
