    Ducks:
    The Oregonian/OregonLive seeks a beat reporter to cover the Oregon Ducks, with an emphasis on UO football. This is a challenging, fast-paced job covering a high-interest topic in our state and beyond. We expect our beat reporter to break news, generate strong enterprise stories, write quickly and accurately on deadline, and engage with readers both on OregonLive and social media channels. Our reporter should be comfortable shooting photos and video. We are looking for a self-starter, someone with excellent communication and time-management skills. Our reporter should have a craving to be the foremost expert and information source for Oregon Ducks news.

    This job requires night and weekend work, as well as frequent travel, both to Eugene and to follow the Ducks for road games. We are open to the position being based in Eugene.

    Preps:
    The Oregonian/OregonLive is seeking a full-time high school sports reporter. This is an online-based job with a focus on producing quality digital journalism, which includes, but is not limited to, posting high school sports news immediately as it breaks; providing readers with live updates from major high school sporting events; creating photo galleries and slideshows that highlight thousands of prep athletes across the state; updating blog posts and statistical databases on a nearly daily basis throughout the school year; and using a variety of multimedia tools to tell the stories of hundreds of local teams and athletes. The ideal candidate for this position …

    >>> Has an interest in and basic understanding of each of the OSAA sanctioned sports (football, volleyball, soccer, cross country, basketball, swimming, wrestling, baseball, softball, tennis, golf, track and field);

    >>> Enjoys the art of storytelling through the media and is willing to do so regularly in both the traditional (written articles) and nontraditional (slideshows, photo essays, videos) ways;

    >>> Embraces the use of social media and its various and ever-changing platforms as ways to reach, grow and interact with our audience;

    >>> Has a steadfast commitment to accuracy, a keen eye for detail, and experience working on tight deadlines;

    >>> Is comfortable navigating the back end of a website and will be driven to learn and keep up with all the newest digital tools as they’re introduced;

    >>> Will work to make connections and build trusted sources throughout the Oregon high school sports community;

    >>> Possesses a general knowledge of Oregon geography and has a rough idea of where most of the major high schools are located and at which levels they compete;

    >>> Understands that a reporter position can involve working sporadic and changing hours from week to week, commonly includes evening and weekend shifts, and requires a great deal of travel around the state.

    I’m confused. The Athletic hired a Ducks writer? Is it a combined beat with LA Kings? Not sure Anaheim deserves its own beat

    Don't engage this goofball. He shows up every couple of days and posts stupid shit, trying to be funny. He isn't.

    You’re one of the most overrated No. 2 draft picks of my lifetime and you aren’t half the talent of your father. Be thankful you have two Super Bowl rings and be kind to others.
