Opinion: Why Was Jerry Sandusky A Bigger Story Than Larry Nassar?

Yes, Baylor Football. The beloved Baylor football, with history and glory far surpassing USA gymnastics.

The Jerry Sandusky/Art Briles stories existed before they became national scandals.

The Larry Nassar case is in the process of becoming that. Should have happened earlier, but still.

The real issue is the media only has so much attention to give. And Donald Trump takes a lot of the “bandwidth” of the media. The celebrity me too movement does, too.

If Jessica Luther wants to write truth, she’d write that, until Aly Raisman set the courtroom
on fire this week, Anonymous Grace got more clicks. And free web sites are slaves to traffic.

The credibility issues are with writing the name "Jamele."

I’m more curious as to why this published today. Seems late to the conversation, especially with nothing exactly new to add except that she once hung out with the gymnastics coach.

The piece is fine. It reiterates what has been written by others. I guess because Hill graduated from Michigan State it feels, what, more "official" or something.

The on-campus hysterics which accompanied the Sandusky story helped it play out bigly in the news media. Protests, Paterno meeting students outside his home, etc., and the general creepiness of the Penn State faithful gave readers/viewers a giant emotional hook to hold onto.

Larry Nassar? You'd steal his lunch money at recess and stomp on his glasses.

Yes, there was a...cinematic...quality to the Sandusky Scandal, which is part of why it's becoming a movie. Which is named Paterno. Starring Al Pacino as Joe and Elvis' granddaughter as Sara Ganim. (In all fairness to Riley Keough, she's a good actor. She just looks nothing like Ganim.)

I assume everyone was billed. This victim happens to be the most recent, so there likely are a couple of bills outstanding, so outrage outrage outrage.
