But what is the real story?

Nishikori was spent, he had several long matches in the heat and knew he didn't have enough left in the tank to win the SF, if I remember correctly he previously beat Federer in a marathon 3 setter. Happens a lot in tennis, players get drained in early rounds and have to default. That year in Miami both semis were defaults, Berdych defaulted the other semi with food poisoning.

No man, the real story. The one the media is to scared to tell.

But you can't handle the truth. You'd rather live a beautiful lie than deal with an ugly truth.

Aren't you a journalist? Why are you writing these tough stories, or are you controlled by the man as well?

You ever play a three hour plus match in 85 degree heat? I'm not talking patty cake tennis like lil old ladies play.

If you want to make friends and influence people, do these three things:

    1. Bitch to management about your travel problems.
    2. Bitch to the desk about your travel problems.
    3. Bitch to the public at large about your travel problems.

Nobody wants to know how the sausage is made. Do you think the readers are going to feel your pain? Sports are their escape from reality.

The people paying your salary, the people sitting in a cubicle waiting for your story and the people who have jobs that are much less interesting than worrying about a cross-country flight to watch an NFL game don't give a damn about your inconveniences. Yeah, it sucks. But honestly, keep it to yourself or share your woes privately.

It rains. The halftime show runs long. The game goes extra innings or into overtime. Flights get canceled. Connections get missed. If you work in this business for more than a week, things are going to go wrong. That's life. There are worse things that can happen to you.

The people digging ditches, shoveling gravel or cleaning hospital rooms don't care about your first-world problems. It can be worse, much worse.

It was also five hours, and each set was to 21, and you had to win 99 games in each set, but the media doesn't want you to know any of that.
