'Me, too'

Trending on social media tonight, women are posting “Me, too” as their status, apparently to indicate that they have been the victims of sexual assault or harassment. The reason is to show how widespread the issue really is.

What Does the ‘Me Too’ Facebook Status Mean?

It’s interesting in a lot of ways. To begin, there’s really no downside. On the other hand, the continuum of sexual harassment and sexual assault is so inclusive that I think you run into the Kaepernick problem where the protest is not narrowly targeted enough to maintain the kind of message discipline that makes a movement successful.

It’s also interesting to me in that this seems to be mostly driven and participated in by liberal women, and I think that shows that although elected Democrats were slow to denounce Weinstein, women on the ground floor could give a shit who he endorsed or donated to.

Anyway: Does this sort of thing ever accomplish anything? Does it matter if it does?

If it pisses off Trump's sense of political correctness enough that he bitch-tweets about it, man, I'm down with it.

What does Mrs. Whitman say about your anti-women stance?

Famous women don’t try to goad him nearly enough. It should occur multiple times daily.

I’m skeptical anytime one of these “raise awareness” things pops up.

If it helps some victims find comfort or strength, yeah it’s worth it.
