Declining the ball was as soft move. He changed his mind and stepped up. Good for him.

Kris Bryant has a nice resume in his 3rd year. ROY MVP. On his way to becoming one of the best players of his generation. But Judge is getting killed for his OMG 16 for 20 series. That’s 16 strikeouts in 20 at bats. Judge had 1 hit to go with his 2 RBI. Judge doesnt deserve to killed over it, but its a nightmare series.

Bryant is 9 for 15. That’s 9 strikeouts in 15 at bats to go with 1 RBI. And 4 K’s in a closeout home game.

Jaime Garcia. Kris Medlen. Just a couple of prominent pitchers around that time also on the 160-inning thing. Lots of people said the Braves had it right because they started Medlen out in the bullpen to save innings. Pretty sure (and could be wrong) they started him there because that's where they projected him, then someone got hurt and he started and kicked some ass. Didn't hit 160.

Whatever, it was the right call and they deserve credit to sticking to the plan even after they qualified for the playoffs. Rizzo has a picture of Strasburg in his office that's signed thusly: Rizz, thanks for looking out for me.

Yup. Let's stop lionizing the guy for doing what he should have done in the first place.

There's nothing there, there. You'd be having panic attacks staring at the blinking cursor on DOCUMENT1 on your laptop.

Cleveland fans got what they deserved, after selling their Game 7 tickets to Cubs fans in 2017.

I hope no one is lionizing him for stepping up and making a playoff start on the road in an elimination game against the defending WS Champs in miserable conditions.

I hope he's being lionized for pitching an awesome game on the road in an elimination game against the defending WS Champs in miserable conditions. He was given a 1-0 lead in the top of the 3rd and held it.

He did it on a night when Cy Young Winner Jake Arrieta couldn't go more than 4 innings in a closeout game at home. And Cy Young Winner Corey Kluber got hammered in a home elimination game

I was referencing the crap he took from the armchair medical experts on here when he was shutdown going into the playoffs a few years back.

He pitched great--as you noted, far better than a couple Cy Young Award winners, including one who is a far bigger headcase than Strasburg could ever hope to be. Just would have been nice without all the usual Nationals drama surrounding it.

Is it possible for the Nationals to do anything without drama, though?

Without the Nationals drama all DC sports has left is watching the Bulletts go 9-20 to start the season and watching the Caps win the President's Cup only to lose to the Penguins in the Conference Semi's

Nope. Maybe tonight they'll finally earn a playoff series win to go along with all of it, though.
