Why does Bruce Willis suck now?

    Bruce Willis Always Ruins Films.

No, I don't agree, but that's the mnemonic I use when I dive.

When did Bruce Willis ever rise above a mediocre actor? He was in action movies mostly, which is something which doesn't require great acting skills.

Death Wish looks like gun porn garbage. I'll see it.

The daughter impaled on the fence of DWII was pretty nasty. But the movie did have a nice religious message.

They should have done this with Hudson Hawk. I was so excited, I dragged my friends.

Pulp Fiction. His first scene w/Marcellus, in which he doesn't say a word or even move a muscle as Marcellus tells him his ass is taking a fall, is maybe my favorite scene in movie history. The guy says it all without saying anything.

Also "I'm just a love machine" is one of my favorite TV scenes ever, and "Moonlighting," as noted earlier, was an amazing TV show well ahead of its time. So it sucks to see Bruce's career circling the drain, and it was doing so long before this spate of straight-to-DVD movies. The most recent Die Hard was barely watchable. He mailed it in and barely had any interest in doing that. I suppose it happens to almost everybody, and faster if you're an asshole. I'd still bet a Tarantino-type could give him one more comeback, but Eli Roth directing a torture porn version of Death Wish sure ain't gonna do it.

Willis has done some solid character work. In Country, Nobody's Fool, Pulp Fiction...

That actor made a pretty good living getting abused by Hollywood tough guys.

Seriously defensive piece about the movie from the tronc flagship publication. Haven't seen this film yet, but Chicago has earned every slight and stereotype it gets in the movies. Sanctuary city giving ID cards to illegals, with more than $62B in unfunded pension liabilities, a horrible credit rating, 13% year-over-year property tax increases, brain drain in the exodus of taxpayers fleeing the state and yeah, all the shootings and murders. Doesn't take a screenwriter to make them look bad.
