Yep, that's it. And there were three surprises, not two.

    Ah, feeling nostalgic this morning...

I was expecting the outcomes of WD after two holes or miss cut badly. But this is less disruptive.

On the big board in Bristol, someone now erases a few words after the standing "Will Tiger return for the ..." coverage planner.

That we've had more posts on Jim Nabors than Tiger's WD say a lot about Tiger's current state.

The lords of Augusta strongly frown upon WDs and the media wouldn't have given him a pass either. And I still think the fears of 77-78--MC (or worse) were right alongside his physical condition as reasons for the decision.

Next up on the Tiger Major Watch is Erin Hills, which would seem like another easy one to skip, er, hold everyone in suspense until the last minute and announce he's not playing. He can't rely on years of local knowledge there.

Successful back surgery is similar to a succesful remortgaging. You're still fucked long term.

Your life now (frustration, pain, not being able to do what you want) is a lot closer to "normal" than the life you led before. Get used to it.

One of the "normal" options for a noncompeting golfer, golf course design, has been closed off to Woods by the end of the golf boom he started. Maybe Asia will see a growth in course construction, but nowhere else will, especially not the States. What else has he got in golf. Can't imagine Woods doing TV. Can't see him being a corporate gladhander (whose hands are naturally less glad than his?). He might set up golf instruction schools. His name as a brand could do well there.

Or he could just travel the world on the zillions of dollars he's already made and hit every waitress he meets. Hell, he might break Wilt Chamberlain's record.
