Seriously though, it's going to be hard for another baseball player to top Jeter's fame. Best player on the most iconic team, championships, memorable playoff moments, etc. And don't forget all the supermodels and actresses Jetes dated. You're not going to get that from Mike Trout.

After everything America has been through the last 18-plus month, this thread is strangely comforting.

Manky's man crush aside, there's this, which the story addresses, which may be a little more pressing than automatic intentional walks or tiebreaker rules. Why isn't baseball marketing the hell out of some of today's stars, like Trout, Harper, ect.?

I always am skeptical of these polls showing baseball has a problem. They always seem, like this one, to be taken in the winter when there's no baseball. I mean, it's Jan. whatever and somebody calls and asks you to name sports stars. Tom Brady's gonna finish ahead of Mike Trout every time.

I'm not sure there is such a thing as "most iconic." Something is either iconic -- and even that can usually be debated -- or not.

I'm glad baseball isn't like the NBA with all the silly Twitter wars and such.
