Grading the Most Ridiculous Things LaVar Ball Has Said Recently

“On the the web site, bigballerbrand.com, the family sells T-shirts for as much as $60, hoodies for as much as $70 and hats for as much as $100.”
    Ridiculousness Quotient: 10/10

Let’s do some quick market analysis. Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig sells these swastika-adjacent hats (available in national team colors!) for $30. Floyd Mayweather, the king of disgusting personal branding, sells synthetic leather The Money Team–branded hats for $88. LaVar, who is selling Ball-family-branded merchandise, is tripping.

You would think there's an NCAA violation or something like that......

LiAngelo, the sophomore, scored 92 in a game last month by cherry-picking and his teammates intentionally fouling to stop the clock so Chino Hills could get the ball back. They just won a state playoff game 130-110.

They play Bishop Montgomery tonight. BMo just beat Mater Dei after Mater Dei beat Chino Hills in overtime in the Southern Section semis. If Chino Hills wins tonight, they'll more than likely get Mater Dei again Saturday.

LaVar has been out of control for a long time, not just in the past two years as Chino Hills became a "powerhouse." Everything that's wrong with amateur athletics.

Didn't Leonard Fournette's family have a similar operation that got shut down, in short order?

Game is on the Lakers channel if you get it. 691 on DirecTV. Game delayed because the clock was malfunctioning. No idea why they're playing in this bandbox.

And as you'd expect, it's an AAU game on steroids. Jacking everything up. Zero coaching. Less defense. Lots of whining.

Seeing as Chino Hills or the Ball Ballers or whatever the hell theyre called are adopting an utterly unorthodox offensive strategy (as well as roster utlization), there's no real reason some opposing teams shouldn't adopt some utterly unorthodox defensive or roster utilization strategies.

Here's a hint: Theoretically you can have up to 35 players on a basketball team. There's no reason your team couldn't be made up of five good basketball players and 30 badass offseason football players. Each of those players could commit up to five fouls. Hard fouls. Very Hard Fouls. VERY HARD FOULS. They shot something like 21-65 in a foo foo game where nobody touches them and they spend the whole game prancing in a 15-foot arc. See what their shooting percentage is if they get bounced off the floorboards a few dozen times by some offseason linebackers and cornerbacks.

Nothing dirty, don't go for the face, the knees or for the groin. But tell all these linebackers and defensive backs, "You go sprinting hell-bent for the block on every single shot, and if you happen to get them with the body, oh well, that's basketball. You guys get your ass smashed to the ground every goddamn play in football, see if they can handle it a couple dozen times in a basketball game."

So they might score 50 points on 8-30 from the field (5-20 3PFG) and 29-49 from the line. So the hell what?

    Think about it.

LiAngelo is a chucker. It's an entertaining game though.

    It's a jack-it-up-from-as-far-out-as-we-can-because-that's-all-we've-ever-done game. And it's a state quarterfinal.

CH goes down. Ice those arms for those 40-foot air balls.

LiAngelo won't get off the bench at UCLA.
