    Well, they did announce it 5 days ago.

    Seriously, maybe they were holding off, because it suddenly dawned on someone that they are going to run out of numbers that will fit on a back of a uniform if they keep retiring them at the pace they've put themselves on. Obviously Jeter belongs in monument park. ... but Posada, Bernie Williams and Pettitte?

    All of the Core Four, and Bernie should have their numbers retired.

    He does, but it's not a jersey. It's a fossilized deuce he snatched from the port-a-john at the Yankees' company picnic.

    I can't find a photo. But Bob Merrill, the opera singer who sang the anthem occasionally in the 70s and 80s, and at Old Timers games, used to wear a uniform with 1 1/2 on it.
