Love the No. 1 pick. Great, great, underrated movie.

Eternal Sunshine should be higher. Probably No. 2.

They should call that the 25 Most Pretentious Bullshit Movies.

Not that I didn't enjoy many on the list.

That's far from a terrible list, but the Royal Tenenbaums should have been on it.

I haven't seen too many movies the past couple years, but Birdman, Punch Drunk Love, Silver Linings Playbook, Midnight in Paris, The Hurt Locker, The Departed all could have easily made it.

    And Anchorman, of course.

Royal Tenenbaums is Wes Anderson wacking off.

The movie may be enjoyable to watch, but it is nothing in the end.

I have tried and tried, but I will never understand the appeal of Lost In Translation.

Somebody spent a little too much time in pretentious indy theaters.

I tried to watch Boyhood and was bored to tears and turned it off. And I like Linklater - all three of his Before... movies are better than Boyhood.

Notable omissions are 12 Years a Slave, Almost Famous, Requiem for a Dream, Inglourious Basterds, and Lars and the Real Girl.

Some animated movies, like Up or Finding Nemo, should probably be in there, too.

Some of them, yeah, but that's a pretty mainstream list for the most part.

I watched exactly three of these movies, "Grand Budapest Hotel, "Mad Max" and "No Country for Old Men." There were more films on the list that I'd never heard of. I admit I'm a philistine, but still...

I agree. Children of Men is certainly not pretentious. Nor are Memento and Mad Max.

Mulholland Drive is what I'd call high-concept, but that's not the same thing. In lesser hands than Lynch's, it could've been a pretentious mess.

Yeah, it's not exactly a list of popcorn flicks, but most of them probably played at your local multiplex at some point.
