We're about four days in and the bracket is taking shape. Kentucky and Iowa, both 1-0, were tied 3-3 after six innings. It's now 14-3 Kentucky after the top of the seventh. And that's what happens when you run out of pitching.

But ... the huge news over the weekend was Japan going 0-2. That hasn't happened since 1962; Japan hadn't even lost its opening game since 1965.

On the U.S. side, California lost for the first time in an opener since 2002. So it's a wide-open field. And there don't appear to be any signs of boundary cheating or covert 15-year-olds!

Good thing ESPN shows about 50 LL games now. There should be more coverage on the Ripken 10 and under tourney though.

I could see a New York-South Korea final. NY has two superb arms and the games are spread out just right for them. South Korea's pitching has been phenomenal.

IIRC from when we had a 12s team there, USA and international finals and the grand finale are on CBSSN.

Who's the LL star who will make it to the show?

Probably no one. Anyone with that kind of obvious talent isn't likely to be a part of Little League.

... Today's South Korea-Mexico game should be good. Mexico trying to get all the way through from dropping into the loser's bracket in the first game.

I know and understand your reasoning there. But remember, most of the U.S. kids there are travel-ball mutts. They're not taking the alternate route.

IDK but did you see that kid from Panama hit one about 350 feet?
