Loved Easley. Had a relatively short career (7 years) due to kidney disease (apparently due to the over-use of painkillers), but was a dominant player for nearly all of that time.

Love that Easley is the finalist. Feel old as shit, though, that a guy from childhood is a senior finalist.

Jerry Jones and Paul Tagliabue are the Contributor Nominees.

Two candidates in 2018. Hopefully it finally happens then.

They almost had to go with a defensive guy since they just did two offensive guys and an offensive guy the year before. So it makes sense.

I'd vote nay on both of them. Jones has been a running joke post-Jimmy Johnson and Tagliabue, meh, not a big fan of putting commissioners into HOFs unless their resume is overwhelming. Tagliabue oversaw the advent of free agency, needless expansion to shit franchises like Jax, the loss of the Rams to St. Louis, Browns to Balt, Oilers to Tennessee, and saw enough in Roger Goodell to basically make him his presumptive heir. The history of the league can be told quite well without Jones or Tagliabue.

Easley was a boss and should definitely get in.

Jerry has been a horrid GM, but as an owner, he almost single-handedly changed the league by bucking the NFL with his outside marketing deals. Not a fan of the guy but he has a pretty good case for the Hall.

Is that enough to get him in the Hall? Basically insisting that his team was entitled to a bigger slice of the pie bc they're more popular? I don't know. I can recognize and appreciate some of his business moves, but his unwillingness to hire a GM pretty much overwhelms anything else. That team should be contending for Super Bowls every year because free agents should love to go there. That's not the case bc JJ is too proud to hand off the reins.

He opened a whole lot of revenue streams for all teams that weren't available before. And many of them have taken advantage of those revenue streams.
