Holy hell this is just unbelievably sad all around.

Only the police should have guns.

 

Would have been much better had she been armed.

That's the line police unions give. Good thing police unions are one of the good unions.

 

He was a fuckup who was hired after washing out of another department:

I'll be happy to listen to people's complaints about teachers unions just as soon as those same people start complaining about police unions. With shitty teachers you get dumb citizens. With shitty cops people die.

In all seriousness, though, fire his ass.

 

Fired? He should be in fucking jail. But, he won't serve a day. He'll get to resign, keep his retirement in tact and shuffle along to a mall security job.

 

Don't know that there's much retirement money involved with 2+ years of service, but yeah.

 

Can't put a guy in jail merely for being incompetent at his job, even if said incompetence causes the death of the kindly librarian. This was caused by a buffoonish mistake, not criminal intent.

But you sure can sue. The taxpayers will be paying a fat settlement for this one.
