The McMinnville News-Register, a high-quality family-owned twice-weekly in one of Oregon’s most livable cities, is looking for an enterprising sports editor to join the management team in a newsroom of 13. We publish Tuesday and Friday print editions in addition to operating 24-7 on the web. Our sports team covers six high schools, ranging from 3A to 6A, and Linfield College, a traditional Division III powerhouse. We are looking for someone combining skills in communication, organization, planning and direction with skills in reporting, editing and pagination. Preference will be given to applicants from the Northwest region. This is far from made up...it's a sizable suburb about 40 minutes west of Portland, but anyone looking for a mix of college and preps work would love this dynamic. A solid paper.

 

One SJ.com's distinguished members was the SE there not that long ago. McMinnville is a great small city with a super Division III athletic program in Linfield, and a solid 6A high school in McMinnville High, to cover.
