What athlete do you associate with each number?

Number 9 is a tough one. Is it Ted Williams or Gordie Howe?

Let's start it off with #1. To me, it's Billie Martin, but I'm sure there are better answers.

My bias will show in many of the single digit numbers, as they belonged to Hall of Fame Yankees.

27/72 -- Fisk

 

I did a story on this years ago but localized it. I also found a newspaper article that did it from 0 to 99 -- I think it was a Florida paper ca. 2006.
