Jake Arrieta: HOF?

A wild and crazy idea: Jake Arrieta, future Hall of Famer

 

Tim Lincecum and Bret Saberhagen say yes.

 

He's no Chris Sale.

 

I won't know that until I read an article by people who don't watch baseball.

 

Watching baseball is so old school.

 

If Jake Arrieta pitches like a Hall of Famer the next 10 years, he'll make the Hall of Fame.

 

When he wins his 3rd Cy Young we can begin the discussion.

Is Kershaw a HOF right now? Or does he need to maintain a 17 win a year pace for another 6 years?

 

He will be a Hall of Famer after his first start next season, even if he blows out his shoulder on his first pitch of the year.

 

Three CY Youngs, a second place finish and a third. Also an MVP. I'd vote him in right now if he got hit by a bus and never pitched another inning. I mean, look at all that black ink.

 

Even waving the 10-year career requirement, yes.

 

Kershaw is a superior version of my generation's lefty whiz, Don Gullett, who was also on the HOF path too until his shoulder fell apart.

 

To say nothing of the fact that as of this moment, he is already 97th in WAR for pitchers and 104th in MLB history in strikeouts and should be top 8- in both by the end of the season. And for guys who have pitched at least nine seasons and 1,0000 innings, he has the 18th lowest ERA in history.
