Oil glut has led to thousands losing their jobs and many leaving western North Dakota. The real victim is Heartbreakers.

In North Dakota's oil patch, a humbling comedown

When read the headline I thought ex-Cardinals kicker Jim Bakken had been arrested.

My 8th-grade typing teacher was Terry Dale Bakken. Great guy straight out of 1958.

I've never been inside Heartbreakers. But I did drive by there a few times. I can only assume that whatever was inside, I would.

I thought the same and he never struck me as the strip club type. Seemed straight laced.
Figured Conrad Dobler was a bad influence on him.

Do they play Dionne Warwick songs in the club?

Gets a lot colder than zero degrees in Williston.

There are lots of old-time NoDaks who aren't too upset the boom is crashing. A lot of them got rich if they owned the mineral rights, but it brought in a lot of crime and traffic and has turned a once-pristine region adjacent to the Badlands into a future superfund site.

Rent is close to being affordable. If only crude oil prices can stay around $45-50/barrel instead of $30/barrel.

Besides the future Superfund sites, wasting natural gas through flaring was a shame.
