But I was surprised to learn the New Yorker never had before today (when it snagged two).

    100th Pulitzer prizes announced

The New Yorker hadn't been eligible before, since it's a mag. Good luck in the future though, figure they haven't won their last.

SJ.com got robbed after our intense political coverage for the past year.

Too many of us vote. It skews the posts.

I didn't win one. I'm going to submit a petulant rant to my college newspaper accusing the Pulitzer board of robbing me of my dream.

While you can usually count on the NYT, and the WP to take home wins for chronicling suffering in some distant part of the globe, I'm glad the board seems to make a point of including one or two "outsider" paper(s) for exposing wrongdoing by local agencies and institutions that could probably be done by any paper with the willingness to do so. Local papers don't have to wait for some natural disaster or calamity to prove their worth to a community.

Would you want to know you were a finalist? I know word got out in the past, but now they make the runners-up public.
Congrats to Kendrick Lamar, Gannett won two. But I'm really happy about the Press-Democrats win for breaking news - nice to see a locally-owned paper be recognized.

Congratulations to the winners, as always.

But I have say I don't think Pulitzers should be given for magazine writing.

I think it's just weeklies, right? Monthlies aren't eligible, as far as I understand it.

EDIT: I am an idiot. I see GQ won one this year. No idea when that changed.

Most politicized bunch of Pulitzer winners I can recall.
