Wonder which SJ.com member she is.

Once again, kids. Keep your racist thoughts to yourself -- unless you are talking about Muslims.

Can't be. She still works in journalism.

She should have just prefaced her comments by stating " sources who wish to remain anonymous say that:..." Which covers all manner of journalistic sins.

What happens if her suppositions bear out? I'm sure the cops are operating with the same assumptions she voiced publicly, but obviously they can't say that. No doubt, definitely patronizing in her tone. Maybe she can find a job on the Trump campaign in PA. She'd be a seamless fit.

What does it matter if they do bear out? If you had an anchor who Tweeted every time a car accident happend that it was probably some old fogey who shouldn't be driving or some drunk illegal immigrant who shouldn't be on the road and they happened to be right at times, would you want them posting that?

I think her assumption was a bit more targeted than that. It's not politically correct what she said, but it will probably be correct. So I think in a lot of people's minds it will matter. I'm talking about the minds of viewers, not journalists who have to act like they're impartial and don't ever jump to conclusions...

Yeah, it's not whether she may or may not be a racist. What she posted is unprofessional for someone in such a public position.

Yes, it was exceptionally targeted in a racially stereotypical way.

If this particular anchor had made such a tweet about an old fogey or drunk illegal immigrant, would she have been fired?

Well, old fogeys are pretty much the primary audience for local news. So possibly if the station got enough blowback.

However, stereotyping old people doesn't hurt as much because people don't think it applies to them. But if you lump all black people as potential killers with promiscuous mothers, that may cut a little deeper.
