ISIS starting to crumble in Iraq and Syria

Front-line commanders no longer speak of a scarily formidable foe but of Islamic State defenses that crumble within days and fighters who flee at the first sign they are under attack.

“They don’t fight. They just send car bombs and then run away. And when we surround them, they either surrender or infiltrate themselves among the civilians,” said Lt. Gen. Abdul-Ghani al-Assadi, commander of Iraq’s counterterrorism forces, who is overseeing the latest Iraqi offensive to capture the town of Hit in Anbar province.

“Their morale is shaken. We listen to them on their communications devices. Their leaders are begging them to fight, but they answer that it is a lost cause. They refuse to obey orders and run away.”

Like the cowardly fascists they are, they run.

In case we're still certain all these ISIS losers are drop-dead, gung-ho for the religious cause.

Read that, too. Hope the reports are true. I can certainly imagine how demoralizing it would be to not know if, at any second, a Hellfire Missile is going to kill you without warning.

    They're scared of Trump.

Terrorists are much better at killing than they are at governing.

Terrorist bullies turn into cowards when facing a greater threat? Who knew?

Maybe we should have been applying greater pressure for a while now.

Whew. Amen. The past seven years and 2+ months attest to that.

Probably not even Muslims. Likely a bunch of Jews from Ohio. Now that I think about it, ISIS is probably just a creation of Vince McMahon.

But I thought the whole thing had such an inevitability to it because it was religiously inspired?

Cowards in service of saving their own lives or spirtually drunk in the pursuit of death - which is it?

People who identify strongly with religion often turn out to be full of shit.

Actually, Alma, it's probably both. You've got your true believers, who at this point are more like ordnance to be detonated than fighters and the much larger segment of the Daesh forces who were local Syrian and Iraqi Sunnis who joined up out of resentment of their governments, sectarian solidarity rather than fanaticism, and last but hardly least, because Daesh paid its troops better than the dozen or so other Sunni militia/resistance groups in Syria. Pay has been cut, and those are the guys running away.

Wow. Who would've thought that turning everyone around you into an implacable foe dedicated to your destruction was a bad strategy?

To steal a line from Mario Puzo, they've created more enemies for themselves than a bunch of religious fanatics can deal with in ten lifetimes.
