Media should routinely report coaches' bonuses for winning NCAA games

I wrote a column arguing that, in coverage of each NCAA tourney game, there should be a line in the story, or a moment in the broadcast when the coaching bonuses at stake for the game are mentioned. What do you think? The link is below.

Just get a copy of the coach's contract and look it up. Easy peasy.

Might be worth a notebook item at best. I highly doubt that Jane Public will clutch her pearls over it.

 

Related to it, I was kinda glad LSU refused to play in a postseason tournament. Prestige of the NIT aside, it's not like the players are getting paid anything extra for playing in it..

I love it when the whole system can be mocked.

That being said, players in Simmons's shoes really should take a couple of business classes during their half-year of schooling, just to help them make their money work for them.

 

Yeah, I'm sure Ben Simmons will get tons out of a class involving compound interest and derivatives.

The most head-scratching aspect of your story: The NCAA hasn't posted it's revenue figures since 2012? WTH?

 

TV, wouldn't that dovetail with when they started getting sued for all the money they weren't giving athletes?

 

Maybe they're being audited.
