    Can you dominate sports coverage in Alabama, where winning is a constant and football is king 24/7/365? Alabama Media Group is seeking a top-flight sports leader to guide a hard-hitting staff of more than 20 journalists across the state.

    It starts and stays with college football, and we devote extraordinary resources to our top-tier beats -- The University of Alabama and Auburn University, programs among the nation's elite whose success is outstripped only by the enthusiasm of their fans. This Senior Managing Producer of Sports will also supervise coverage of the dominant Southeastern Conference, and extend reach through pro sports, other college sports, high school sports and more.

    We have a commitment to investigative and enterprise reporting, and seek someone with an ability to guide reporters through challenging stories of impact.

    We are a digitally-focused company, seeking a leader to help drive content 24/7 on our statewide site, AL.com, with a loyal and demanding following among Alabama's five million people, and nationwide. We also publish newspapers in the state's three biggest cities -- Birmingham, Mobile and Huntsville.

    This leader is responsible for development and distribution of authoritative content over all platforms that breaks news, delivers constant buzz and offers in-depth analysis, using digital approaches that build and engage audiences. Duties include strategic planning, project execution and supervision of reporters, managing to performance-based metrics for the content team and individual employees.

    To be a good fit for this opportunity, you will need to have:

    • Experience working with video and social networking functionality / technology is highly desirable

    • Self-starter, very detailed oriented and have the ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and manage multiple complex projects to on-time delivery

    • Successful experience leading multi-disciplinary teams

    • Solid track record of successfully developing projects through launch

    • Experience creating interactive metrics reports and analyzing their implications

    • Working collaboratively to develop measurement methods, ability to align product offerings with audience

    • Mastery of social media and digital interaction

    • Ability to create and implement strategies to respond to the evolving nature of the industry by experimenting with new models, platforms and ideas to stimulate audience engagement and revenue generation/growth.​
