Jessica Moran, a Red Sox reporter for Comcast SportsNet, resigns amid reports of the nature of her relationship with manager John Farrell.

Red Sox reporter Jessica Moran resigns amid questions about manager John Farrell - The Boston Globe

Jenny Dell left Boston after it was learned she dating third baseman Will Middlebrooks, and there were rumors about Heidi Watney and Jason Varitek.

Dear reporters, you can't date players on the team you cover.

And let's not forget Wendi Nix was married to Ben Cherington.

Didn't Francona get divorced while he was managing?

It's kind of funny that the Boston Globe broke the story. John Henry owns the paper, and they must have known things were reaching a boiling point, so instead of letting someone else break it, they blew the whistle themselves.

In Shank's book written with Francona there were some hints he was getting it on with a Red Sox employee during 2011 and he did end up moving out of his marital home that year.

There was an earlier rumor that some sports talk show caller floated when he bought time to host his own show. The station soon stopped taking his money.

Since the Globe undoubtedly views Comcast as a competitor, I count this as a legitimate scoop. Score one for the scribblers.

Does this stuff come out in Toronto or Baltimore or Minneapolis? I have a feeling it doesn't.

The dalliances between Red Sox staffers and female "journalists" that end up publicly known are a mere drop in the bucket.

Carolyn Hughes and Derek Lowe. But Lowe had left the Red Sox for the Dodgers. Hughes worked for the Fox regional network that broadcast Dodgers games.

In Baltimore, no. But we do have that Kevin Costner episode with Kelly Ripken, and the lights mysteriously failing at Camden Yards, cancelling a game and keeping The Streak alive.

A radio host in Baltimore Nestor Apricot was sued for, in part, claiming one of the women covering sports for tv was sleeping with athletes.
