This will soon be posted on the Gannett site, but wanted to go ahead and get it out here.

Sports is a large part of the fabric of Mississippi, and it all begins on the high school fields across the Magnolia State. The high schools and recruiting editor for The Clarion-Ledger of Jackson, Mississippi will be tasked with continuing the news organization’s legacy as the leader within the state for high school coverage, as well as significantly reporting on recruiting, particularly those headed to in-state colleges. This position is a supervisory one, coordinating with a team of part-time employees and freelancers to supplement coverage throughout the state. The editor will also lead the newsroom effort to coordinate the annual Best of #MSPreps banquet and be a part of the ceremony. Radio/podcasting and video experience are strongly preferred.

We are a drug free, EEO employer committed to a diverse workforce. We will consider all qualified candidates regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age, marital status, personal appearance, sexual orientation, family responsibilities, disability, education, political affiliation or veteran status. Employment is contingent on passing a pre-employment, post-offer drug test and acceptable motor vehicle record.

Email sports editor Hugh Kellenberger at hkellenber@jackson.gannett.com with a resume and portfolio, including links to multimedia work and social media accounts. No phone calls.

Hugh's whip-smart and knows the lay of the land. You like recruiting? This is one of the best places to cover it. No shortage of news. This is a terrific opportunity for many.

Gannett has posted the official job description here. It would prefer you apply through this format, though an email to myself notifying me that you have is fine.

No one else seems to want to answer the question, so let me do the honors - Courtney is headed to the San Jose Mercury News as a reporter/videographer on the various pro beats out there. Pretty sweet gig.

She's a pro, and did a bang-up job with this job at the C-L.
