What a cluster-fuck.
I feel bad for all 7. I mean, I did WAY WORSE while working in TV than saying a few dirty words directed to co-workers off-air.
The person that ratted on them to corporate needs to die in a fire.

Maybe they also were drinking on the job. If they weren't drinking, they should not be playing Cards Against Humanity.

 

Did the station buyout their contracts? If not, I'd be interested to see which termination with cause clause this falls under.

I imagine it would fall under cause for harassment or hostile work environment. Most TV contracts have those clauses, especially for anchors, that they can't do anything to bring a station disrepute or put the workplace in a negative light.

Also many contracts now have clauses that let the station terminate without cause for up to 90 days severance. It's a joke in that many of us are locked into our employer and can't leave but they can't pull the trigger. I'm guessing that's what happened to all seven.

In my dealings with this particular company, I have found them a fair company but, like all TV groups, terrified of a harassment suit. So they exercised their clause and fired them.
