Die Hard & Bob Roberts. Just a fantastic villain.

He was also awesome as Sheriff Nottingham in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.

Also great as the sad sack, midlife crisis guy in "Love Actually."

Locksley! I'll cut your heart out with a spoon!
    ....

Why a spoon, cousin? Why not an axe?

Because it's dull, you twit. It'll hurt more.

    RIP

Some of my favourite Rickman roles were non-villains: "Truly, Madly, Deeply" is wonderful - he and Juliet Stevenson have lovely chemistry. And as Colonel Brandon in "Sense and Sensibility" he defined decency and honour.

He did so much and always brought that dry British wit with him. Obviously the big ones have been mentioned, but he was also great in Dogma and Galaxy quest. And for my generation, Snape. RIP

Speaking of which ... I was pretty peeved this holiday season that all of my movie channels (and I get all of them except TMC) ... did not air that movie either on air or on demand. It was on some regular cable thing so obviously edited and with commercials etc. Trying to monetize it through DVD and paid on-demand, I guess.

Anyway, RIP. He was always enjoyable. Die Hard was on as part of my subscription, and my teenage son and I watched again in what has become a Christmas Eve tradition.

  9. And Quigley Down Under. That, RHPOT and Die Hard are my favorite Rickman roles.

Rickman and Jeremy Irons were wonderful villains in the Die Hard series. Great casting.
