That was certainly a show that was lost in time. I'll give Harrington this: He milked that caricature for all it was worth, and probably another two seasons after that.

And he could act a little bit too.

    RIP.

Funny guy. Renowned comedian outside that show, too.

Schneider was Ed Norton after Ed Norton, and then he was Al Bundy before Al Bundy.

Yeah, the show has been pretty much overlooked over time, but I always enjoyed it during my sitcom-watching days as a kid.

Schneider was one of those classic 'supporting' characters that ended up stealing every scene.

He wasn't the only reason to watch though -- not as long as Valerie Bertinelli was on the show.

I never would have guessed he was 86. He didn't seem that old in the show (of course, that show now is about 40 years old -- as am I -- so maybe it's farther away than it seems). RIP, Schneider.

For what's it's worth, ODAAT had one of the best TV theme songs, ever.

A young Valerie Bertinelli was one of the closest things to perfection I could imagine.

Ding ding ding. It was no mystery why Schneider came over to fix the shower head about four times a week.

This would make for another great thread: best TV theme songs. Which do you like better, ODAAT or Welcome Back Kotter?

I love One Day but Welcome Back Kotter is one of my finalists.
