RIP, Trapper John: Wayne Rogers dies at 82

Actor Wayne Rogers died on Thursday surrounded by family after suffering complications from pneumonia. He was 82 years old.

Rogers, who hailed from Alabama, is best known for playing the role of Captain "Trapper" John McIntyre in the classic television series M*A*S*H from 1972-1975. He also had recurring roles in City of Angels, House Calls, and Murder, She Wrote.

As army surgeon Trapper John on M*A*S*H, Rogers swapped wisecracks with partner in martinis and mischief Hawkeye Pierce, played by Alan Alda.

The two doctors blew off steam between surgeries pulling pranks, romancing nurses and tormenting their tent-mate Frank Burns, always with an endless supply of booze and one-liners.

My favorite MASH character. RIP.

 

Baby MMSW started watching MASH on Netflix a few month ago ... finished ... And started all over again. He was her favorite.

I remember a "Big Valley" episode in which he lost out for the affections of Audra to bad-luck ranch hand Waldo Deifendorfer (Marty Allen).

 

Always thought it was odd they made a mash spinoff about his character and didnt include him.

 

Yeah, that was nuts. Wayne Rogers owned that role on TV.
