Sorry to hear from a longtime friend that the New Haven Register lost 10 people from their sports staff today. Some very good people. I hope they land on their feet. The layoffs apparently were part of downsizing throughout the paper. Didn't see any links after a quick glance on the Internet. Anyone else have any details? Any ideas what company might do after a purge that apparently will outsource pagination to Philadelphia and has cut a once proud paper to the marrow.

10 from sports? How many staffers did they have?

Good grief, who the hell has 10 staffers in sports total?

Maybe 10 if they count part timers and stringers.

The number 10 includes writers and desk people. The desk apparently will be consolidated in Philadelphia.
