“I’ve never seen Oasis live but there couldn’t have been that many better than us.”

Delightful interview with Noel Gallagher in the latest issue of Esquire UK:

Noel Gallagher Is Esquire's December Cover Star

And I thought Noel was supposed to be the good Gallagher.

Maybe they were bigger in the UK, but was Oasis ever any good outside of What's the Story Morning Glory?
They had some hits there. Can't remember them being much beyond that. They're Hootie and the Blowfish with a cockney accent.

I remember them drawing a lot of attention for a very brief period of time. (Bill Simmons reminds me of Oasis.)

Whether that meant they were "big" or "good" is debatable. I always thought their infighting was the best part. This site should aspire to have infighting at their level.

They were pretty big there and elsewhere. They broke the Beatles' record for most records sold in Britain, IIRC.

The next CD after "Morning Glory" wasn't bad, either, although it didn't sell as well.

If their music had ever reached the level of their ego and discord they would be as legendary as he seems to think.

They were The Who, but without all the talent.

That said, I still adore Supersonic and The Importance of Being Idle.

I don't believe that anybody feels the way he does about him now.
