"Fuck high school football," he explains. People who care about it are "weird and creepy."

Why the NFL Should Make Friday Night Football a Thing

I have a 6-year-old. I take him to every home game at the local high school. He loves it and can't wait to play on the team some day.

We don't need Thursday NFL. Sure as hell don't need Friday.

That column was more than half-shitty.

That said, one semi-common sense solution, is allow 53 players from the roster to be active for Thursday games only, instead of having the teams declare 8 guys inactive.

As it currently is, teams can only have 45 (46 for the 3rd string QB) players active for a game. Instead, allow them 53. If one of the 53 is hurt and can't play, the team can call up a practice squad guy for that game only, and pay him a regular salary instead of the practice squad salary.

It'll help with deeper rosters, and maybe prevent some injuries. Although it's doubtful the owners would want to pay the practice squad guys the extra money that week to be on the main roster. But it may help players' health, and improve the quality of the game a little bit.

The best part is how seriously people will take that piece.

Nowhere does he mention that the NFL is barred from broadcasting on Friday night during high school football season by federal law. I guess it may be implicit in his second reason (protect high school football), but he should make it clear.

GQ should've printed this in blue font to make its point clear.

NFL owners are billionaires, and federal laws do not apply to billionaires.

I think my wife would leave me if the NFL played on Fridays, too.
